8 Prom Night Mistakes to Avoid

For most students, prom night is a special night. For some, it will be the greatest night of of their lives - a night to remember and cherish forever. But for some others, it can also turn out to be the worst night of their lives - a night that will always evoke terrible and shameful memories. One way to avoid that fate and make the night really special is to make sure that you do not go there in a style that sets tongues wagging for all the wrong reasons. Here are some styles you should avoid:

  • Do not wear too much makeup: Wearing too much makeup is a bad idea as it makes you look like a hooker and you will grab people's attention in a negative way. When you see the picture after a few years, it will make you cringe in shame.
  • Avoid wearing uncomfortable shoes: These are highly likely to break on the dance floor. What can be more embarrassing than that? Instead of buying new, uncomfortable shoes, wear the ones you already have.
  • Tiara is a bad idea: Want to look like a queen or a princess? Unless you are crowned the prom queen, stay away from it. When you look at your picture later in life, you will find it foolish.
  • Say no to plunging necklines: Every girl wants to look beautiful and glamorous on a big night like that. But plunging necklines in high school? Do not do it because you will get a lot of tongues wagging for all the wrong reasons.
  • Do not overspend on clothes: Everyone wants to be fashionable, but remember that it's just a high school students' night and not a movie premier. The bills you will stack up now may become a source of headache for years to come. So avoid spending too much money on clothes.
  • Avoid going on a blind date: If you have a steady boyfriend, that's good. But if you don't have, then there is no reason to go with someone you hardly know just because he is good looking or interesting. Things might become unpleasant or even downright nasty. Ask a friend you can trust, even if you don't consider him boyfriend material.
  • Do not put on too much glitter: When putting on glitter, remember that it's a prom night you are going to and not a disco party. Just a light dusting of iridescent powder on your collarbone will be fine.
  • Facial right before the big night is a bad idea: Why? Because you might get a red, blotchy complexion which may force you to hide your face and run a mile from staring eyes.
