How to Select the Perfect Sunglasses for Your Face

Sunglasses are the height of fashion and will continue to be so, according to Sara Rogers, who is a trend specialist at the Mall of America, Minnesota. Sunglasses can be worn at any time of years, but they are especially useful in summer to protect our eyes from the sun's ultraviolet rays and glare. Go to any department store and you will invariable always find one or two people pondering over which sunglasses goes best with them. You may have found yourself in a similar predicament more than once in the past few years – trying on glasses of various shades and scrutinizing your face in the mirror only to decide that they don't look right on you. Off course, there is always a pair that is just right for you. The problem is not where to find them; it is how to pick the right one for your face.

Here are the things you should consider when choosing the sunglasses that are just right for you.

  • Shape of the frame: When selecting sunglasses, the shape of the frame should contrast with the shape of your face, according to Sara Rogers. This means that if you have a square face, then you should choose a round frame and vice versa. But completely square frames should be avoided as they look too severe. Also, the size of the frame should be proportionate to the size of your face. If you have a small face, you should go for small frames.
  • Color of the frames: Black frames are very versatile and can go with anything and look sexy and fashionable, according to Sandy Durmont of TheImageArchitect.com. If you don't have any color preference or if you are unsure what color to pick, then you should always go for black frames. But there are other colors that are just right for some skin and hair color. Brown frames go very well with pale skin; blondes look fabulous in black frames; and blue or green frames are perfect for redheads. White is also good because it is "high fashion" and never fails to make an impact wherever you go.
  • Color of the lenses: When it comes to the color of the lenses, most people have their own preferences. Some like black, some like dark grey and some like bronze. However, black lenses look good on everyone. Gradient or fade lenses look perfect on women because they almost mimic the eye makeup, according to Jessica Trent of Soda Sunglasses (www.sodasunglasses.com). Polarized lenses are also good choices because they diffuse glare through a polarizing filter.
