Chest Piece Tattoos

Chest could be a great place for the showcasing of a larger tattoo on your bodies.

Body ink on your chest

This is a curvy portion of your body which is between in your abdomen and your neck. Chest is containing some most important parts of your body.

Since chest of a person is covered with clothing for a larger time of the day, you could have a large work of art on your chest. In a Japanese art of covering the whole body with the tattoo ink, that is horimono, the place where the breast bone is located is left from the tattoo ink. This was done so the person could partially unbutton his shirt without showing any of the body art on his body.

A brief history of chest tattoos

Chest tattoos have been major parts of many civilizations. The face of the tribal man in the Maori civilization was designed with swirled lines designs which were known as moko. Their necks, chests and shoulders were also tattooed with designs.

In the cultures related to Asia one could find many historic civilizations in which the chest tattoos were common. In Thai culture the tattoo artists wrote the prayers of Buddha on the chest of disturbed people who needed spiritual guidance, in the form of tattoos. One could also found religious tattoos on the chest of Hindu people. But this was not a common practice among the Hindu's.

In the west the most famous tattoo for the chest is the tattoo featuring historic sailor tattoos. In the past the sailors use to tattoo a sailing ship, or a nautical star on their chest. Tattooing over the breast bone is a very painful stuff. Because this is a place where some tissues are not present so it becomes very painful when the inking gun runs over here. But some people deliberately use this portion for tattooing to show their dedication towards this historic body art.

Today's chest tattoos

Chest tattoo on men

You will see this kind of body art mostly on men only. Because men are the one who could get off their shirt publically to show off their tattoo. Now also you could see sailing ships on some men’s chest. But in the Asia samurai fighters and the dragons are gaining more popularity on the chest of the youth. One would also see various phrases written on the chest in different fonts. By phrasing some thing on your chest you could prove your belief in a particular thing.

Chest tattoo on women

Chest tattoo on women are a bit smaller one. Breast of the women makes the area less for the tattoo artist. Many women opt for the higher potion of the chest area for tattooing. If their tattoo is in the lower chest, then, they would not be able to display their body art to every one. Only a few or one people would get the chance to see the body art of women in the lower chest.
