Unlike the hand tattoos leg tattoos are not so much popular, but is now its trend is rising slowly. People who like to get a tattoo on their leg just want a tattoo for their own satisfaction and do not want to display it in the public. The process of tattooing a leg could go on to many days. Especially the sleeve leg tattoo could take even years to complete.

Cultural significance of a leg tattoo

Around the whole world the art of body inking could be seen from a long ago as far as Paleolithic age. In the Japanese and the European history we could found this art. In different parts of world there is a different significance of the leg tattoo. In many of the historic cultures leg tattoo were only a part of the warriors in the civilization. In some parts of the world leg tattoo was also signified as the spiritual growth with in a human being.

  • In the stone age of Japan a technique that was utilized for tattooing was known as Irezumi. This method could be still seen in some parts of Japan. In the Kansas City of Japan there is an Irezumi body art parlor that still uses the technique of there ancestors.
  • A very little known art of Turkey is known as Dovme. This style of tattooing was used for the warriors. This was a very pain full technique of tattooing. Some people had also faced consciousness during the process of tattooing. Only a few artists are present that too in Turkey who utilizes this kind of body art.
  • The method utilized in the prison utilizes a gun that is made at the home itself. The ink used is generally extracted from a pen. The motor used to move the razor is also got from any home use appliance. This kind of tattooing could actually result in infections of the skin.

Dangers involved in leg tattoo

You could remember following tips to avoid any kind of infection during tattooing:

  • To retain the moisture of the tattoo immediately wrap it with a saran wrap.
  • After you have removed the saran wrap take a hot shower bath.
  • Do not scrub over the fresh tattoo. If done so then it would be requiring re-touch ups.
  • After you are over with hot shower bath apply an ointment recommended by your tattoo artist. Always tell your tattoo artist about any type of skin allergy you are having.
